Gainesville Regional Airport’s new CEO eyes terminal upgrades and new routes

Paul Mehrlich has taken over as CEO of Gainesville Regional Airport, pledging to continue a long-range community growth plan that includes improvements to terminal amenities such as children’s play areas and sensory rooms. He also sees an opening to attract new airline routes following Spirit Airlines’ shutdown, and wants to make the case to residents that flying locally saves money compared to dealing with parking, traffic, and security at larger Florida airports.
