Gainesville officials eye stronger ties with UF as presidential search nears end

The University of Florida Presidential Search Committee has named former University of Alabama President Dr. Stuart Bell as the sole finalist to lead the university, pending approval from the UF Board of Trustees and the Florida Board of Governors. City of Gainesville leaders expressed hope that Bell, if confirmed, will prioritize building robust partnerships between the university and the broader community. Bell spent the past decade heading the University of Alabama before emerging as the top candidate following a months-long search process.
