City
Gainesville earns strong bond ratings from Moody’s and Fitch ahead of 2026 capital issuance

Both Moody’s Investors Service and Fitch Ratings have assigned high marks to Gainesville’s upcoming $33.1 million Capital Improvement Revenue Bonds, Series 2026, with Moody’s rating the issue Aa3 and Fitch assigning an AA, both with stable outlooks. The agencies cited the city’s financial management, reserve levels, and fiscal strategy as reasons for their confidence. The ratings carry added significance because they follow years of budgetary adjustment stemming from reduced transfers after the separation of Gainesville Regional Utilities from direct city control.
