McDonald’s worker arrested for pulling gun on transgender patron at Gainesville location

Alachua County sheriff’s deputies arrested 29-year-old Curtis Jones on June 26 after he allegedly confronted a transgender person using the women’s restroom at a Gainesville McDonald’s and displayed a firearm. According to the arrest report, the confrontation began after Jones’s girlfriend said she was uncomfortable sharing the restroom; Jones then showed a gun at his waistband and motioned toward the exit before the victim fled. Jones faces an aggravated assault charge and was already on probation through 2030 stemming from a prior assault conviction.

Alachua County man faces felony charges after allegedly threatening boaters at Lake Alto

A 27-year-old Alachua County man was arrested on felony charges after witnesses say he threatened seven people, including four children, with a firearm during a Friday night gathering at Lake Alto near Waldo. According to deputies, Teddy Stanze became agitated after a woman left the party, tried to board a pontoon boat after being asked to leave, and then had a child retrieve a gun from his vehicle before pointing it at the group. Stanze is currently held on a $120,000 bond.
