Gainesville’s University Club marks 36 years as an LGBTQ gathering place

The University Club, a Gainesville bar open since 1990, has operated for more than three decades as a year-round Pride venue and community gathering space. Residents and performers have described the 36-year-old establishment as a rare safe haven for LGBTQ people in Florida’s current political climate.
