FWC sends alligator DNA samples to Gainesville lab after fatal Seminole County attack
A 31-year-old Orlando woman died Sunday after an alligator attacked her while she was swimming in the Econlockhatchee River in Little Big Econ State Forest in Seminole County. Wildlife officers killed two large alligators near the site — one measuring 13 feet, the other 12 feet — and sent tissue samples to a Gainesville laboratory for DNA testing to determine which animal was responsible.
