Lawsuit claims OpenAI rushed ChatGPT to market before FSU campus shooting

A lawsuit filed in Leon County Circuit Court alleges that OpenAI hurried ChatGPT’s release by a single day to beat Google to market, potentially compromising safety features. The suit, brought on behalf of Alianna Grant, who was shot three times during the Florida State University shooting, claims the gunman communicated extensively with ChatGPT in the moments before the attack. The plaintiff’s attorney says he hopes the discovery process will reveal whether the rushed launch affected the chatbot’s safety guardrails.
