Alachua County closes Poe Springs swimming area over poor water quality

Alachua County shut down the swimming area at Poe Springs Park on July 16 after researchers found the water stagnant and in the midst of an algae bloom. Scientists from the Florida Springs Institute conducted tests and determined conditions will not improve without a significant influx of groundwater to recharge the spring.
