UF doctoral student from Kenya named to Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 for space infrastructure work

Wanjiku Chebet Kanjumba, a University of Florida Ph.D. candidate specializing in space infrastructure and interplanetary logistics, has been recognized on the Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 list for 2026. Her dissertation research centers on HARMONIA, a docking and grappling architecture designed to support cooperative spacecraft operations and in-orbit servicing. Writing in the Orlando Sentinel, Kanjumba argued that African women and the continent’s equatorial geography represent underutilized assets for the global space economy.
