Alachua County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Amber Clark, 36, following a Saturday afternoon altercation on West Newberry Road in which she allegedly struck a victim in the face and then pressed a firearm against the victim’s mouth while threatening to shoot. The victim managed to flee and contact 911, and deputies later recovered the weapon and documented visible injuries. Clark, who has a prior battery charge in Pennsylvania, was booked on aggravated assault with a deadly weapon; the incident occurred in front of children.

A woman swimming near Ray Wayside Park on the Silver River was attacked by an alligator Saturday and later had her arm amputated, according to family members. Bystanders pulled her from the water before she was transported to a hospital, and FWC trappers subsequently removed a nearly ten-foot alligator from the area. The attack is the fourth alligator incident in central and north-central Florida this summer.

Shalom Barnes, 20, was sentenced in July to seven years in prison after being convicted on charges of possessing child sexual abuse material and promoting sexual performance by a child. Gainesville Police say Barnes had been uploading and distributing the material through a Discord account, and he admitted to investigators that the account belonged to him. In addition to the prison term, Barnes must register as a sex offender.
