Democrats outpacing Republicans in early Florida primary voting, data shows

With roughly a week remaining before Florida’s August primary, state data showed Democrats casting more early and mail ballots than Republicans despite the GOP holding a roughly 1.5-million-voter registration advantage. UCF political scientist Aubrey Jewett suggested the numbers point to greater Democratic enthusiasm, while also noting that Republican vote-by-mail participation has declined sharply, an outcome analysts attribute to President Trump’s repeated criticism of that voting method.
