Columbia County may loan road crews to Alachua County for pothole repairs
Columbia County commissioners are set to consider a proposed interlocal agreement that would send county employees to Alachua County on Saturdays to patch potholes, with Alachua County taxpayers footing the bill. The overtime work would be voluntary for Columbia County staff, and residents of Columbia County would bear no cost. Complaints about deteriorating roads — including a stretch of 53rd Avenue extending to Millhopper Road — have mounted throughout the summer, and a new online portal now lets residents report potholes, debris, and sinkholes.
