Crews in Gainesville have begun preparatory work this week on the next phase of the long-running Cabot/Koppers Superfund site cleanup, according to Alachua County. The immediate work involves replacing an existing stormwater ditch with a new pipe system, slated to run through January, followed by contaminated soil removal expected to finish by February.
