Alachua County man sentenced to life in prison for 2022 murder

Dennis Butler, 53, received a life sentence Monday following his conviction on a second-degree murder charge stemming from a 2022 shooting in Gainesville. A jury found him guilty in October, and court records show transfer paperwork to the state prison system was filed Wednesday. Investigators determined the victim was shot eight times outside Butler’s home.
