Florida consumer sentiment rises for second straight month, reaching 69.1 in October

A University of Florida survey found Florida consumer sentiment climbed seven-tenths of a point to 69.1 in October, its second consecutive monthly gain, even as national sentiment dipped. Three of the five index components improved, driven by more optimistic views about future U.S. economic conditions, while assessments of personal finances compared to a year ago fell for the seventh straight month. UF researchers noted that elevated inflation and high borrowing costs continue to strain household budgets despite broader economic growth.
