Convicted felon jailed after striking victim with firearm in Alachua County

Alachua County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 30-year-old Clark Hobbs on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after he allegedly struck someone with a laser-sighted handgun during an argument. Authorities say Hobbs left an altercation with the victim and a witness, then returned armed; the victim had retrieved a bat before being struck. A background check revealed Hobbs had a prior burglary conviction in Minnesota dating to 2017.
