Thunderstorms knock down trees and power lines, closing roads across Alachua County

Severe thunderstorms swept through Alachua County, toppling trees and bringing down power lines and forcing the closure of several roads. Millhopper Road is shut down roughly three miles west of Devil’s Millhopper, Archer Road is blocked at Southwest 91st Street in southwest Gainesville, and Highway 441 is closed at two separate intersections near Turkey Creek.
