UF alumni group proposes buying Ironwood Golf Course from Gainesville

City commissioners are reviewing proposals to sell or partner on Ironwood Golf Course, which loses roughly $320,000 annually. A group of University of Florida alumni — Adam Rappaport, Chuck Smith, and David Pearson — has offered more than $1 million for the property, enough to retire the city’s remaining debt on the course. The group plans to upgrade course conditions and overhaul the driving range into an entertainment and instruction facility.
