Florida’s longest disability-accessible zipline opens in Newberry

Zip at Haile Quarry in Newberry launched what is billed as Florida’s longest dedicated disability-accessible zipline on Friday. The six-line course, built with ADA-compliant ramps and transitions throughout, includes a line named Jordan’s Jamboree in memory of co-owner Casey Glan’s son, who died at age 4 from cerebral palsy.

Gainesville woman turns 100, has been bowling since 1943

Doris Simonson, a Gainesville resident turning 100 on July 7, celebrated early with family and friends at a local bowling alley. She has bowled continuously since 1943, keeping up the sport through decades of military moves with her husband and into her centennial year, still hitting the lanes once or twice a week.
