Newberry’s new $1.5M roundabout opens after joint city-county investment

A roundabout at a key Newberry intersection opened July 22 after Alachua County and the City of Newberry jointly funded the $1.5 million project through the county’s 10-year Transportation Capital Improvement Program. Officials say a traffic study recommended the design to reduce crash severity and accommodate growing vehicle volumes, including large trucks, along a primary corridor linking Newberry and Alachua.
