Great Southeast Pollinator Census invites Floridians to count insects Aug. 21-22
Researchers are asking Floridians to spend a few minutes this Friday and Saturday counting pollinators as part of the Great Southeast Pollinator Census. Florida’s coordinating hub is located at the University of Florida’s Master Gardener Extension Office in Ocala, where head coordinator Jeremy Rhoden is overseeing participation. More than 5,000 Floridians took part in last year’s census, which aims to track declining pollinator populations affected by habitat loss, pesticides, and shifting weather patterns.
