Poe Springs stops flowing as drought strains North Central Florida aquifer

Water management officials and the Florida Springs Institute report that Poe Springs, which closed to visitors in July, has now ceased flowing entirely amid a prolonged drought affecting the region. Despite regular summer rainfall, the Floridan Aquifer remains depleted, leaving rivers low and some springs without flow. Hydrologists are urging residents to conserve water to help the aquifer recover.
