Bicyclist, 27, killed after being struck by vehicle on NW 16th Avenue
A 27-year-old cyclist died Wednesday night after being hit by a westbound vehicle in the 300 block of Northwest 16th Avenue, near the Sidney Lanier Center, around 9:30 p.m. Gainesville Police Department officers say the cyclist was crossing the roadway mid-block when struck and was transported to the hospital, where they later died. The driver remained at the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
